Fountains Abbey with Studley Royal Water Garden, is of outstanding historic and aesthetic importance and is one of the National Trust's most visited pay-for-entry properties. The 822 acre estate, open daily all year round, offers visitors a wealth of history and heritage spanning nearly 900 years. The Georgian Water Garden with its temples, cascades and follies won the estate World Heritage Site Status in 1987 and the abbey ruins are the most complete Cistercian ruins in the UK. A visit at any time of the year provides a wonderfully interesting, inspiring and memorable day out for all the family. With a full calendar of walks, tours and events there is a wealth of actvities for the young and not so young to enjoy.
